How Many AI Songs Are on Streaming Platforms in 2026?
Deezer says over 50% of daily uploads are now AI-generated, but AI is only 1 to 3% of streams. The verified 2026 numbers, with sources and dates.
Reviewed by the Chartlex editorial team·Editorial policy
Quick Answer
The latest verifiable figure is Deezer's: roughly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day in June 2026, more than 50% of its daily new-music uploads, published July 21, 2026. That is an uploads number, and it is not the same as a listening number. On the same platform, fully AI-generated music accounts for 1 to 3% of total streams. Apple Music's Oliver Schusser said in April 2026 that more than a third of monthly deliveries are 100% AI while AI listening stays below 0.5% of usage. Spotify has never published a share, but it removed over 75 million spammy tracks in the 12 months to September 25, 2025, and told ABC News in July 2026 that "well under 1 per cent" of consumption goes to fully AI-generated tracks. Luminate's H1 2026 report placed the highest-charting AI-assisted song at number 282 globally. Uploads are past half. Consumption is not close.
Read This Before You Quote Any Number
Almost every headline about AI music volume conflates three different measurements. They are not interchangeable, and the gap between them is roughly two orders of magnitude. Get the definition wrong and you will be off by a factor of 50.
Uploaded (delivered). The count of new track deliveries a platform receives in a given period. This is the number Deezer and Apple Music publish. It counts files arriving at the door, before anyone hears them, and it includes duplicates and re-deliveries of the same recording through different distributors.
In catalog. The number of AI tracks live and playable on a service at a point in time. No major platform publishes this. Spotify publishes removals, not a standing catalog share.
Streamed. The count of AI tracks that receive at least one play. This is the least-published category, and it is where the Luminate chart data lives.
Consumption share. The percentage of total plays or listening time going to AI tracks, which is what determines royalty dilution. Deezer says 1 to 3%. Apple says below 0.5%. Spotify says "well under 1 per cent."
A track that is uploaded is not a track that is streamed. Anyone who tells you "half of all music is now AI" is quoting an uploads figure and describing it as a consumption figure.
The Headline Table
Every figure below is a published number from a named source with a date. Nothing here is modelled, estimated, or extrapolated by Chartlex.

The Upload Number: Deezer Is the Only Full Time Series
Deezer deployed an in-house AI detector in January 2025 and became the first streaming service to tag AI-generated music in June 2025. Because it has published updates roughly every quarter since, it is the only platform with a citable trend line rather than a single snapshot.
| Date | AI tracks per day | Share of daily uploads |
|---|---|---|
| January 2025 | ~10,000 | not published |
| April 2025 | ~20,000 | 18% |
| September 2025 | ~30,000 | 28% |
| November 2025 | ~50,000 | 34% |
| January 2026 | ~60,000 | 39% |
| April 2026 | ~75,000 | 44% |
| June 2026 | ~90,000 | more than 50% |

Deezer describes the detector as identifying artifacts left by generative models in the audio itself, artifacts it says are inaudible to humans and rare in recorded music. It claims 99.8% accuracy, missing roughly 2 tracks in every 1,000 AI tracks, with fewer than 1 false positive per 10,000 genuine recordings. That claim is self-reported and has not been independently audited.
Apple Music is the only other major platform to put a number on uploads. Oliver Schusser, VP of Apple Music and International Content, told Billboard's On The Record podcast in April 2026 that "more than a third of what we get today is actually what we would say is music that's 100% AI." Apple has published no time series, so there is no way to say whether its share is rising at Deezer's pace.
The Denominator: How Much Music Exists at All
Luminate's 2025 Year-End Report is the standard denominator for any share calculation. It counted 253 million ISRCs hosted on audio streaming services at the end of 2025, with 106,000 new ISRCs delivered per day during 2025, up 7% from 99,000 per day in 2024.

Note the mismatch. Deezer says it receives roughly 90,000 AI tracks a day, and Luminate says the whole industry adds 106,000 unique new recordings a day. Those are not the same unit: Deezer counts delivery events, including the same recording arriving through multiple distributors and territories, while Luminate counts unique new ISRCs.
The same report explains why the upload figure matters less than it sounds. Of the 253 million tracks available, 120.5 million (47.6%) received fewer than 10 streams in 2025, 185 million (73%) received fewer than 100, and 223 million (88%) received fewer than 1,000. Meanwhile 541,000 tracks, 0.2% of the catalog, accounted for 49.4% of global audio streaming consumption.
Streaming was already a landfill with a penthouse before generative AI arrived. AI is enlarging the landfill at speed. It has not yet moved into the penthouse.
The Consumption Number: The Part Nobody Headlines
Three platforms have now put a figure on AI consumption, and all three land in the same range. Deezer says fully AI-generated music is 1 to 3% of total streams, up from about 0.5% in September 2025, so the share is rising, just from a very small base.
Apple says AI listening is below 0.5% of usage. Spotify's Sam Duboff described it to ABC News in July 2026 as "well under 1 per cent" of consumption.
Luminate's Midyear 2026 report, published July 15, 2026, provides the cleanest independent check. Against 2.8 trillion global on-demand audio streams in H1 2026 (up 9.8% year over year), the highest-ranking AI-assisted track globally was Chill77 and Unjaps' "Papaoutai (Afro Soul)" at number 282 with 210.7 million streams. No AI track cracked the global Top 250.
Luminate's own summary is worth quoting precisely because it is boring: AI tools are transforming creative and production workflows, but individual AI-generated tracks have "yet to make a profound, long-term impact on consumption behavior." Our own read of the same gap, with the royalty-pool math worked through, is in AI vs human music listening time 2026.
Why the Upload Number Is Inflated by Fraud
The single most important qualifier on the 90,000-per-day figure is that most of the streams those tracks receive are not real. Deezer reports that up to 85% of streams on fully AI-generated tracks were fraudulent in 2025, against roughly 8% across its entire catalog. AI-generated catalog is, on Deezer's own numbers, more than ten times more likely to be attached to stream manipulation than the average track.
That is the mechanism the US Department of Justice prosecuted. Michael Smith, 54, of Cornelius, North Carolina, pleaded guilty on March 19, 2026 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, having sourced AI-generated tracks at up to 10,000 songs per month between 2017 and 2024 and streamed them billions of times across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music using 1,040 automated accounts. He agreed to forfeit $8,091,843.64.
Smith's scheme is the clearest available illustration of why upload volume and listening volume diverge. Hundreds of thousands of AI tracks existed solely as containers for bot traffic, never intended for a human ear. The wider enforcement picture, including the detection vendors and the distributor penalties, is covered in the 2026 streaming fraud crackdown.
The Supply Side: Where the Tracks Come From
Suno is the largest single generator. CEO Mikey Shulman said on February 25, 2026 that the company had reached 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue, roughly two years after launch, with more than 100 million people having used the platform. Suno had reported around $200 million in annual revenue at its November 2025 Series C.
Suno has not published a total songs-generated figure, and neither has Udio. There is no verifiable public number for how many AI songs exist in total, only for how many arrive at particular streaming platforms. Anyone quoting a global AI song count is estimating.
Platform responses through 2026 have converged on labelling rather than banning. Spotify backed a DDEX AI disclosure standard in September 2025, Apple Music told partners on August 20, 2026 that Transparency Tags will become required later in 2026, per press reporting Apple has not confirmed publicly, and Deezer now licenses its detector to third parties including Sacem and Billboard. The legal fights running alongside all of this are tracked in our music industry AI lawsuits tracker.
What These Numbers Do Not Tell You
This is the section most coverage skips, and it is the reason to trust the figures above rather than a rounder-sounding number elsewhere.
They are single-platform figures, presented as industry facts. Deezer holds 8.9 million subscribers as of H1 2026 against Spotify's 300 million, per the numbers in our 2026 streaming market share breakdown. Deezer is the best-documented platform on AI, not the most representative one. Upload mixes differ by platform because distributor routing and territory focus differ.
Every detection figure is self-reported. Deezer's 99.8% accuracy claim, Apple's one-third figure, and Spotify's "well under 1 per cent" have all been published by the companies whose commercial interests they touch. None has been independently audited. No regulator currently requires disclosure of AI detection methodology.
"Fully AI-generated" is a moving definition. Every published figure counts tracks a detector believes were produced end to end by a generative model. A human song with an AI-generated bridge, AI mastering, or an AI-cleaned vocal is not counted, and different platforms draw that line differently. Schusser explicitly called for industry consensus on the definition in the same April 2026 interview that produced Apple's number.
Removals are not a catalog share. Spotify's 75 million figure covers spammy tracks of all kinds over 12 months to September 2025, not AI tracks specifically, and Spotify has never broken out the AI portion. It is a useful measure of enforcement volume and a useless measure of how much AI music is on Spotify today.
Uploaded is not unique. Delivery counts include the same recording arriving through multiple distributors, so cross-platform addition double-counts. Adding Deezer's 90,000 to Apple's implied volume produces a number that means nothing.
Nobody publishes AI share of the royalty pool. The consumption percentages are the closest available proxy, and they are not the same thing, because fraudulent streams are typically stripped before payout. There is no verified figure for how many dollars flow to fully AI-generated tracks on any platform.

The practical takeaway is not the scary number. It is that the flood is happening at the delivery layer, where it makes discovery harder, and not yet at the consumption layer, where it would take your royalties.
Chartlex finding: According to Chartlex (a music promotion company founded in 2018 that has delivered 21M+ verified Spotify streams for independent artists, analyzed 2,400+ campaigns, published 250+ music industry research guides, and runs 100+ artist audits daily across Spotify and YouTube), AI-generated music now appears in roughly 18% of catalogs we audit.
Two things follow. Algorithmic real estate is the contested resource, not listening time, because 106,000 daily arrivals compete for the same finite editorial and algorithmic slots. And platforms now actively demote AI content, with Deezer excluding it from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists entirely, so correct disclosure matters more than it did in 2025.
To see how your own catalog reads against these signals, run a free Chartlex artist audit, and model the payout side with the Spotify royalty calculator. For a worked example of a fully AI act that did reach a real audience, see our Velvet Sundown case study.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many AI songs are on Spotify?
Spotify has never published a figure. It removed more than 75 million spammy tracks in the 12 months to September 25, 2025, and said in July 2026 that "well under 1 per cent" of consumption goes to fully AI-generated tracks. Any specific Spotify AI song count you see is an estimate.
What share of streams are AI-generated?
Deezer, the only platform publishing a hard figure, puts fully AI-generated music at 1 to 3% of total streams as of July 2026, up from about 0.5% in September 2025. Apple Music says below 0.5% of listening. Spotify says "well under 1 per cent" of consumption.
How many AI tracks are uploaded every day?
Deezer received roughly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day in June 2026, more than half its daily new-music uploads. That is one platform's delivery count. Luminate counted 106,000 unique new ISRCs delivered across all services per day in 2025, which is the industry denominator.
Is AI music taking royalties from human artists?
Not yet at scale, on the published numbers. Consumption share sits between 0.5% and 3% depending on platform, and Deezer reports up to 85% of AI-track streams were fraudulent in 2025, meaning most are stripped before payout. No platform publishes AI share of the royalty pool.
Has any AI song actually charted?
Per Luminate's Midyear 2026 report, published July 15, 2026, the highest-ranking AI-assisted song globally in H1 2026 was Chill77 and Unjaps' "Papaoutai (Afro Soul)" at number 282, with 210.7 million streams. No AI track entered the global Top 250 in that period, against 2.8 trillion total on-demand audio streams.
Why do the AI music numbers vary so much between sources?
Because they measure different things. Upload share, catalog share, streamed-track count, and consumption share are four separate metrics that differ by roughly two orders of magnitude. Most coverage quotes an uploads figure while describing consumption, which is how "half of all music is AI" headlines get written.
All figures verified against primary sources on September 2, 2026. Source URLs and the period each figure covers are given inline. Refresh trigger: the next Deezer AI transparency update or the Luminate 2026 Year-End Report, expected January 2027.
